When it comes to finding victims trapped under wreckage in the event of a disaster, no technology can match a well-trained search dog. And perhaps no organization does more to support disaster response efforts involving search dogs than the National Disaster Search Dog Foundation (NDSDF).

The NDSDF is the only organization in the US that consistently provides Advanced Certified canine search and rescue teams—at no cost—to fire departments and other agencies.

Introducing Lola

Like many NDSDF dogs, Lola, a Labrador Retriever, was rescued from an animal shelter. Just in time, too. She was only one day away from being euthanized when a local veterinarian and NDSDF supporter recognized Lola's potential and set her on her way to becoming an elite search dog.

Lola recently suffered an injury to one of her hind legs, and her veterinarian prescribed METACAM to help her return to duty. Lola's handler, Johnny Subia, says,
"I was very impressed by how quickly she responded to METACAM. Lola seems like a puppy again and is certainly not acting like a 6 1/2-year-old search dog. Everyone in our training group has been amazed by Lola's increased energy and enthusiasm."
