Using METACAM in dogs
FLEXIDOSE™ to lowest effective dose
Only liquid METACAM offers FLEXIDOSE™—the ability to adjust dosage gradually in small increments to reach the lowest effective dose.

Using the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration consistent with individual response is now considered a best-practices standard for NSAID usage in veterinary medicine. By titrating METACAM until the desired effect is seen, practitioners can achieve treatment goals, minimize risk, and save their clients money. The liquid formulation of METACAM with calibrated dosing syringe permits individualized dosing based on patient weight. The dose can be adjusted in very small, precise weight increments (1-lb increments for small dogs; 5-lb increments for larger dogs). These increments can be gradually decreased over time until the lowest effective dose has been reached.

There are several NSAIDs on the market, but the liquid formulation of METACAM Oral Suspension facilitates dosing of any weight. Rigid tablets must be given whole or split in half to get somewhat close to a dog’s weight level. When tablets are split, the incremental weight changes can vary by as much as 25 lbs, resulting in under- or overdosing. Liquid METACAM offers especially convenient dosing for dogs whose weights fall between the levels on tablet dosing charts. Best of all, it can be given once daily, which provides a full 24 hours of relief.

With METACAM Oral Suspension, veterinarians and their clients can manage pain simply and with the peace of mind of knowing that they are doing so responsibly.
